Sync History

The Sync History tab features a read-only grid that shows you the synch history for that handheld device. The features in the grid are described below:

Column Name

Description/Purpose

Synchronization Status

The status of the synchronization process. This represents the process of moving the databases from the handheld device to the office computer and placing new databases on the handheld device. This process is separate from the actual transfer of data back into the networked database. This column can be one of two values, described below:

Possible Synch Status

Definition

Waiting to Synch

Meaning data has been transferred from the handheld device to the office computer and the system is waiting to synchronize with the handheld device. This status will remain until either the user presses the Skip Processing button during the synchronization or until the data copied to the office computer has been successfully validated and transferred into the system, indicated by the Data Proc Status column.

Completed

Meaning the synchronization process has been completed. Once the data has either been successfully transferred and the status is changed to Completed

Column Name

Description/Purpose

Date Sync Started

The Date when the synchronization status was last modified for a particular database.

Time Sync Started

The Time when the synchronization status was last modified for a particular database.

V & T Status

The status of the validate and transfer. This represents the process of transferring the data into the networked databases from the databases copied off of the handheld device. This column can be one of five values:

Possible V & T Status

Definition

Importing

Meaning that the data retrieved from the device is being pushed into the Inventory suite's Review and Post module.

Validating

Meaning the validation code in the Review and Post module being executed to determine if the data can be transferred to the appropriate Inventory modules.

Posting

Meaning the posting code in the Review and Post module is being executed to push the data into the appropriate Inventory modules.

Complete

Meaning the data was successfully transferred into the network databases.

Canceled

Meaning that either their were records in the data retrieved from the device that could not be imported into the Review and Post module and, when prompted, the user chose to abort the rest of the synchronization process, or records imported into the Review and Post module failed validation and the user chose to cancel when prompted.

Column Name

Definition/Purpose

Last Processing Date

The Date when the V & T status was last modified for a particular data file.

Last Processing Time

The Time when the V & Tstatus was last modified for a particular data file.

File Removal Date

This indicates when the file located in the V & T Data File column will be deleted.  This field is only populated when the V & T Status is Completed or Transferred.  The field is populated with a date that is by default 7 days after the processing date.  This date interval is customizable. This feature is currently not in use.

V & T Database

This is the location of the data file that was copied from the handheld device and is the data file to be processed.

Note:  The Synch Status may say “Completed” even if the V & T Status column says something other than "Completed" due to the ability of the user to press the “Skip Processing” button.  Also, the Synch Status field may say “Waiting to Synch” even though the V & T Status indicates “Completed” in the event the synchronization failed to copy the data to the handheld device due to abnormal termination of the synchronization program.
