Agencies can set up Plants, Processes, and Equipment using hierarchal relationships. For example, processes can be linked to other subordinate processes, and a piece of equipment can be linked to another piece of equipment farther down the line. Related records are classified as either "parents" or "dependents."
When records are associated in this manner, the operating status of the plant, process, or piece of equipment has a direct effect on the status of its dependent equipment. That is, if the parent is out of service, all of its dependents are also considered out of service.
In the following example, if the Plant (parent record) goes out of service, Lucity changes the statuses of the associated Process and Equipment (dependent records) to "Parent Out of Service," as well.
