The Show in Map tool enables Lucity Desktop, Web, and Mobile users to view the location of a Lucity record within a map. The setup for each Lucity platform is slightly different, and so are the tool's capabilities.
Lucity Desktop
Lucity Desktop provides the greatest variety of options for the Show in Map tool. The Desktop tool can launch the Lucity Webmap, a third-party webmap, and ArcMap 10x.
Each user can define the Show in Map tool and set it to launch a default map. Or, the tool can be configured on a module-by-module basis to launch different ArcMap products. A third option lets administrators use a configuration program to set up the Show in Map tool for multiple users at once.
Order of Map Use
Setup
User Setup - Users can configure the Show in Map tool for themselves through Lucity Desktop. Learn more.
Admin Setup - Administrators can configure the Show In Map tool for multiple users at once using ArcCatalog. Learn more (Show in Map Configuration, http://help.lucity.com/webhelp/v203/gis/index.htm#23752.htm).
Lucity Web
The Show in Map tool in Lucity Web can launch the Lucity Webmap or a third-party web product.
Setup
Lucity Webmap - No setup is required on the user's part. When an administrator sets up the Webmap, he or she assigns gis views to different groups and sets a default gis view. If the user's Default Rules Group has a gis view assigned to it, the Show in Map tool opens that map. If the user's Default Rules Group is not assigned a default GIS View, the system default opens. Third-Party Webmap - This option requires that 1) an agency's third-party mapping product works with Lucity; and 2) an administrator changes certain settings in the Lucity Administration Tool. More information about third-party webmaps
Lucity Mobile
The Show in Map tool in Lucity Mobile launches a Lucity Mobile map.
Setup
Lucity Mobile Map - No setup is required on the user's part. When an administrator sets up maps, he or she assigns different maps to different groups and sets a default map. If the user's Default Rules Group has a map assigned to it, the Show in Map tool opens that map. If the user's Default Rules Group is not assigned a map, the default map opens.
