Special Function: Class Specific Forms

Lucity web has the ability to display different forms for different records in a module depending on the value in the Asset Class field. This provides a way to have forms that are specific to each type of asset when the module may contain assets that vary widely in function.

Example: The Equipment module may contain pumps and tractors. These two assets require very different information.

Open the System Configuration > Asset Class Library module.
Click Add . The Asset Class form appears.
Select which inventory module this asset class is for using the Asset Type field.
Enter a unique code in the Asset Class field. This is the name that will appear in the Asset Class pick-lists in related modules.
Enter a description in the Asset Class Desc.
Click Save .

Method 1: Assign an individual asset to an Asset Class.

Open the desired inventory module and click to open the desired asset record. The inventory form appears.
Select the desired Class or Asset Class (field names may vary).
Click to save the record.

Method 2: Assign multiple assets to an Asset Class.

Open the desired inventory module .
Use CTRL + click to select or or more assets to assign to a Class.
or
Create a filterset of assets to assign to a Class.
Use the Global Edit tool to update the Asset Class field for the selected or filtered records.

Once you have setup forms that are specific for a class you need to assign the forms to the class.

Open the Asset Class Library module.
Use the button to expand the Class to which you want to assign a form.
In the Forms grid, click Add . A form selection record will appear.
Use the Module Name field to select which section of the inventory module this form is for. (EX: The Inventory form or the Inspection form). The available list is controlled by the Asset Type selected on the Asset Class record.
Use the Form Name field to select the form that will be used as the default form for the class.
Click Save . The Form now appears in the Asset Class's Forms grid.

The final step is to configure the view to display the class specific forms instead of displaying the default form.

In the View/Form Manager navigate to the module that has class specific forms.
Select the view you want to display class specific forms and click Edit...
In the view builder navigate to the level of the view that has a class specific form and check the Open Asset Class Specific Form checkbox next to the form.
- If asset class forms are assigned to children that have their own views (Example: Equipment Inspections) then the Open Asset Class Specific Form will need to be checked on both the child module's view and on the asset inventory module's parent view.
- Adding and editing child records (such as Equipment Inspections) from their own view will never display the Asset Class-specific form; the form that is assigned to the View will always display. The Asset Class-specific form for the child record only shows when viewed in the parent module.
Click Save.
