The appearance and functionality of the editable grids is controlled by an agency's Lucity grid configuration, system field properties, and form field properties. This section of the Help Guide discusses several factors to consider when designing grids that users will edit.
Users' access to the editable grids is controlled by the following permissions. Users must be in groups that grant these permissions.
General > Add |
Required for each module in which the user will add records. |
General > Edit |
Required for each module in which the user will edit records. |
General > Delete |
Required for each module in which the user will delete records. |
Lucity Apps > Lucity Web > Allow Inline Editing permission * |
Required to use the Editable Grid function in any module. |
* Administrators may want to remove this permission to disable inline editing if users use Internet Explorer to access Lucity Web and experience issues with system speed. Editable grids can affect performance in IE, even when a user is not editing.
The Editable Grid functionality is enabled by default on all Lucity grids; however, it can be enabled and disabled through the Lucity Administration Tool.
How to Enable/Disable the Editable Grid functions
Available fields
The fields designated to appear in the module grid also appear in Edit mode. Therefore, any field that an agency wants users fill out in Edit mode must appear in the grid. (Users can edit Form fields that do not appear in the grid by opening the Form.)
Note: Adding more columns to a grid will increase the amount of time it takes to load. This is especially true when using Internet Explorer.
Forms
It is not necessary for a module grid to have an attached form in order for users to edit that grid in Edit mode. However, if the form is present the field properties set on the form can effect the fields on the editable grid. The affects are listed below.
Field Properties
Field Properties for an editable grid are controlled by both the global field properties and the field properties for the form attached to the grid.
Required fields
Fields can be marked as required.
Read-only fields
Fields can be marked as read-only. This stops a user from editing the field.
Default values
Fields can have default values set. This adds information into a field without the user filling it out.
