A Subset is a group of filtered records that a user saves in one module in order to use or view later in related modules. The Subset Manager tool gives users the ability to:
load a subset,
create a new subset,
add features to an existing subset, or
remove features from an existing subset.
Example: A user creates a subset consisting of all pipes inspected before Nov. 20, 2002, in the Sewer Television Inspection module. That subset can be viewed in both the Television Inspection and Pipe Inventory modules, because the subset contains information pertaining to both modules. Unlike a filter, the records included in a subset don't change based on data changes within a module; the subset changes only if a user manually modifies the list of records in the subset.
Inventory Subset/Address Subset
Identifies the type of subset to load. Inventory subsets contain groups of assets; Address subsets plot address points.
Infrastructure Type
Indicates the type of asset from which this subset is drawn. This field is active only if the Inventory subset is selected above. The pick-list only includes Asset Types that are currently in the map.
Load
Loads a saved subset of records.
Create
Creates a new subset from the records (of the chosen Infrastructure Type) that are currently selected in the map.
Add To Existing
Adds the records (of the chosen Infrastructure Type) that are currently selected in the map to an existing subset.
Remove From Existing
Removes the records (of the chosen Infrastructure Type) that are currently selected in the map from an existing subset.
Existing Subsets
Lists the saved subsets available for use with the Load, Add to Existing, and Remove from Existing tools.
Number of Selected Features in Map
Displays the number of the feature selected as the Infrastructure Type.
