How To Close a Routing Task

Routing Tasks can only be marked complete in the Routing tab. Certain Routing Tasks automatically close once all of the associated Sub-tasks are closed; others must be manually closed. Only the Employee assigned to the Routing Task (in the Work Flow Setup Tasks record) has permission to close it unless the Anyone Can Close option in the Tasks record is marked. If no one is assigned to the task, anyone can close it.

Note: The system uses the employee login ID to determine if a user has permission to close a Routing Task.

How To Close a Routing Task

  1. Select the active routing task from the top grid (task must have a status of "pending").
  2. Right-click and select Complete Step.  It may take a few seconds for the task status in the grid to read "complete."  Then the status of the next routing task will change from "in-active" to "pending" and any associated sub-tasks will appear in the Work Tasks grid.

Note: If you have more than one task with the same step number, you may have two tasks "pending" at the same time.
