At the top of the Problems module window you will see header data. This data remains at the top of your screen as you use the tabs to navigate through the record. The header fields are described in the table below:
Field Name |
Definition |
Problem |
This field allows you to identify or name the problem you will be entering. This is a required field that features two parts: the numerical code and the problem description or name. Note: Be careful not to confuse a problem with a cause. A problem is something that triggers a request for a work order (i.e. sewer backup, missing street sign, pothole). A cause is something that creates a problem that in turn creates a work order request. For example, if there is severe flood in the area and part of the road washes out, the road washing out is the problem while the cause is the flood. Warning: Changes made to the Problem code or description will only affect future records in the Work Orders system; historical data will not be updated. The codes and descriptions used previously will no longer be available for filtering. |
Award |
A field to help classify the problem. |
Problem Status |
This is a code-description field that allows you to select a status for the problem, such as inactive or active. |
Active Problem Button |
The Active Problem Button has a special function. If marked, this problem will appear in the Problem pick list as an active selection in the Work Request module. If this box is not marked, the problem will not be available for selection. |
WO Enable |
This disables the problem from being used in Work Orders. The disabled problems will not appear in the work order pick lists. |
PM Enable |
This disables the problem from being used in PM's. The disabled problems will not appear in the PM pick lists. |
Req. Enable |
This disables the problem from being used in Requests. The disabled problems will not appear in the request pick lists. |
Note: You can manually adjust the field properties so that this button is marked by default upon adding a new record. To do this, Right-click + Ctrl on the button and select Field Properties. In the Default Value window (circled in red below), select "Yes".
