The Force Synchronization (Force Sync) tool updates the Lucity Desktop application with the data from features selected in the map.
The system automatically syncs features whenever edits are made. With the Force Sync tool, a user can manually force the Lucity GIS Editor to sync a feature that has not been edited.
This tool does not update the geodatabase with Lucity Desktop data. Instead, it overwrites every linked field in Lucity with the values in the geodatabase
Common Uses
The Force Sync tool is useful when there is a need to:
Update Lucity Desktop with edits made to features outside of an edit session, such as those made by running the ESRI Field Calculate tool on a field outside an edit session.
Update Lucity Desktop with edits made to features during an edit session in which the Lucity GIS Edit extension was not loaded.
Update a feature that wasn't synced to Lucity Desktop due to a software error.
Limitations of the Tool
The Force Synchronization tool will not update Lucity Desktop correctly if the following types of edits are made in an edit session in which the Lucity GIS extension is not loaded:
line splits,
line merges,
flow direction changes,
renumbering features, or
feature deletes.
These types of edits require the user to use the appropriate Lucity edit tools during an edit session in which the Lucity GIS extension is loaded.
How To Use the Force Synchronization Tool
Start an edit session in ArcMap.
Select the features to sync using the ESRI selection tool.
Click the Force Synchronization tool on the Lucity GIS Edit toolbar.
A dialog box similar to the one below appears. The message verifies the number of features that are currently selected. To continue, click Yes.
A status bar located in the lower-right-hand corner of ArcMap shows the progress of the update. When the status reaches 100 percent, Save the edit session to complete the update process.
