Current Mode

The status bar also displays if the current record is in View Mode, Edit Mode, or Add Mode. For example, the status bar below reads "Edit Mode."

View Mode

View mode

After opening a module (either by completing a filter or retrieving all records) the records displayed are in View Mode. In this mode users can look at the records and navigate through the record set. In View Mode, data may not be added or edited; however, it can be deleted.

Note: The save and delete buttons are disabled in this mode.

Edit Mode

Edit mode allows users to modify the data on an existing record. To escape Edit Mode and return to View Mode, press Save (this will save any changes to the record) or press Cancel (record changes will not be saved).

Add Mode

  • Add mode allows users to add new records to the database.
  • To escape Add Mode and return to View Mode, either save the new record by pressing the Save button , or press the Cancel button (the record will not be saved).

Note: If the workstation is in Continuous Add Mode (setup in Program Options), users will have to press Cancel to return to View Mode. Pressing Save saves the current record and immediately returns to Add Mode.

When saving a record in Add Mode, the module will filter the displayed records to show only the records that were modified that day. This is based on the login name and system date as compared to the Mod By and Mod Date fields. Reset the filter to show all records in the module.

Status

The status bar provides an alert if it is busy performing another task. For example, the status bar below reads "ready", meaning the system is not performing any other function at this time.
