General Tab

The General tab documents when the inspection occurred, which sewer structure was inspected (upstream or downstream), and the inspected pipe's and structure's attributes. It also records whether any cleaning was performed before the inspection, whether the pipe was televised during the inspection, and the rehab status.

Several fields in this tab have special functions, which are described in the table below:

Note:  The Date Inspected and Inspected Structure fields are required to save the record.

Note: When a US Structure is selected in the header, the system carries over data for the Pipe Shape, Diameter, Width, Length, Length Status, Material, and Liner fields from the corresponding Pipe Inventory record. These fields will blank if they were not completed in the Pipe Inventory.

Field Name

Special Functions

Lamping Rec #

The system-defined ID for the inspection record.

Date Inspected

The date that the inspection occurred.

US or DS

Indicates the structure that is lamped. This automatically displays the user-defined ID for US or DS structure.

Pipe Shape

Dia/Height (in)

Pipe Width

Length (ft)

Length Status

Material

Liner

These are pipe attributes. The are automatically filled out when the Alt Pipe ID is selected. These can be edited by the user.

Most Recent Inspect

Indicates whether the selected Lamping Inspection record represents the most recent Lamping inspection for this pipe segment. The system uses the Date Inspected to make this determination.

Rim to Crown (ft)

The vertical measurement from the rim of the manhole to the crown of the pipe (in feet).

Angled Rim/Inv (ft)

The measured distance from the center of the rim to the invert of the pipe (in feet). Used when completing only a surface inspection of the manhole.

Angled Offset (in)

The estimated horizontal distance from the center of the manhole opening to the pipe invert where the angled rim to invert distance was measured (in inches). Used when completing only a surface inspection of the manhole.

Rim to Invert (ft)

The distance between the rim of the structure and the bottom edge of the pipe running through the structure. If the rim-to-crown measurement and the diameter are greater than zero (>0), the program adds the two measurements to get the rim to invert. Or, if the angled rim-to-invert measurement is greater than zero (>0), the program calculates the invert distance based on the angled rim-to-invert and offset distance using the Pythagorean theorem. Otherwise, the user can type in any value desired.

Flow Depth (in)

The total depth of liquid and obstructions, in inches, measured to the nearest quarter inch.

Depos Depth (in)

Deposition

The approximate depth and type of obstructions flowing/settling in the pipe (in inches).

Flow Velocity

The flow speed in the pipe (feet per second).

Note: Average velocity is equal to the flow divided by the cross-sectional flow area.

Cleaning

TV

Used to recommend cleaning methods or a TV inspection for the pipe.
