This grid allows you to create PM schedules for your assets. It will display schedules for the highlighted asset or group of assets in the Assets grid.
Note: In order to access the PM Schedules Grid, your previous changes to the record must be saved and you must be in Edit mode.
This grid can be used in the following ways:
You can schedule PMs for individual assets by selecting intervals/dates for each asset. This method will create a unique work order for each asset based on this PM Template.
OR
You can group multiple assets together and create one work order for the entire group. This alternative requires that the assets have the same PM Group ID. To use this method, see Grouping Assets above.
The first step when scheduling a PM is to determine if the PM is to be on a fixed schedule or a floating schedule.
A fixed schedule means that the PM is generated on a timely basis according to the Next Start Date field. For example, say you have a PM for leaf pick up that you want generated on October 1 of every year. However, the actual work is not complete until November 5. If that PM schedule is based on the next start date, the PM work order will be generated again on October 1 of the following year.
A floating schedule means that the PM is not generated on a timely basis, but is contingent upon the end date of the last PM work order. For instance, in the leaf pick up PM discussed above, if the PM is based on the end date, then the PM work order will not be generated until November 5 (the date the work order was closed) of the following year. Alternatively, for fleet and equipment, it could be based on the current meter reading. For example, routine maintenance is often set up on a floating schedule as you don't need a new PM work order generated until the current one is complete.
Note: The meter reading fields will be unavailable if the Grouped Asset checkbox is marked in the header.
Note: Each timea PM work order is closed, the PM schedule resets itself. Thus, if you do not close a PM work order and the next scheduled date arrives, the PM work order will NOT be generated until you close the current one (i.e. only upon closing the current PM work order will the new one be generated). The PM Missed Starting Date Option in the Work Options module will ensure that your next scheduled dates are in the future, in keeping with the interval you selected. However, if you have set this option to "P" for prompt, and the PM is reset due to a field import, the start date will NOT be reset as the program cannot prompt for a user response.
