Crystal Reports

The Crystal Report Plug-in is used to display a Crystal Report on the Dashboard in either PDF or HTML format.

If a user must enter parameters to run a particular report, the Plug-in will request the parameters before the report is displayed.

Administrators can also configure the Plug-in to display a link to the report. When users click the link in the Frame, the report is launched.

Note: To speed up Dashboard load time, Lucity does not run reports every time the Dashboard is loaded. Instead, it runs and reloads reports after a specified amount of time has passed. By default, this period is every four hours.

The report can also be displayed as a link. When a user clicks the link, a pop-up containing the report opens.

Example

The report at right is a Summary report. It provides an overview of the number of open Work Orders and how long they have been open. Summary and graph reports are most effective on the Dashboard because they provide a general indication of activity.

Crystal Report Plug-in Options

Show Only Dashboard Reports

Displays only those reports that are specifically designed for the Dashboard. (Their filenames start with 'dash.') Such reports require no user parameters; so, they can be displayed on the Dashboard.

Selected Module

Enables users to select a module. After one is selected, the Report Name field displays only reports associated with that module.

Select Module

Displays a list of available modules.

Report Name

Enables the user to select a Report from the drop-down list. Only reports relevant to the Selected Module are appear here.

Filter

Displays the Filter of records against which the report will be run.

Acquire

Enables the user to modify the Filter.

Report

Generates the first ##* pages of the report and displays the report in the Dashboard.

Linked Report

Puts a link to the report on the dashboard. When users click the link, the Plug-in opens a new tab that generates and displays the first ##* pages of the report.

Paged Report

Generates the first page of the report and displays it on the Dashboard. Users can page through the report one page at a time, regardless of the number of pages.

Set Dimensions

Enables the Width and Height fields, allowing users to manually control the size of the report. Note: These fields do not control the size of the Frame.

Save

Saves all changes and closes the window.

Cancel

Cancels all changes and closes the window.

* This number is based on the Lucity Administration Tool > System > Settings > Web Performance Tab > Max # of Pages on PDF Crystal Reports setting.

Open the Dashboard and the Dashboard Tab that you would like to edit.
Click the Enter Design Mode button.
Locate the Frame to which you would like to add a Plug-in.
Click the Add Plugin button at the bottom of the Frame. The following pop-up appears:
Select Create a New Plugin. The tool expands to display Plug-in options.
Select the Crystal Report option.
Click Create Plugin. A new Plug-in is added to the frame, and the Crystal Report Edit menu appears on the right.
In the Selected Module field, choose the module associated with the report.
Select a report from the Report Name drop-down list.
- To show only reports optimized for the Dashboard, click the Show Only Dashboard Reports check box at the top of the window.
To customize and limit the record set included in the report, use the Acquire button to change the filter.
- In doing so, users can either create a new filter or use a filter previously saved in Lucity Desktop or Web.
Click Save to accept the report settings.
