PM Header Data

The header fields in the PM/Work Template module contain general information used to identify, and describe each PM/work template. Some of the data is passed on to work orders created from the PM/template.

The header appears at the top of the module window and remains visible as users navigate through the module's tabs.

Field Name

Definition

PM/Template **

Indicates the user-defined, unique ID and name for the PM/template.

Category **

Specifies the type or class of PM/template desired. When a user selects a category, the system then displays only the applicable Main Tasks and problems. Click the field caption or press F9 within the field for a list of categories from Work Flow Setup > Categories.

Note: This field should not be manually set to Required as this may cause the program to error when a work order is created from the PM.

Main Task *

Indicates the main work task that will be accomplished on work orders created from this PM/template. Click the field caption or press F9 for a list of Work Flow Setup > Work Tasks.

Problem *

Specifies the problem that should be addresses by completing the work order created by this PM/template. Click the field caption or press F9 for a list of Work Flow Setup > Problems.

Scheduled PM

Converts the template into a Scheduled PM.

When a user marks this box, the record becomes a PM. The Scheduled PM box must be marked before the Grouped PM, Linked PM, or Grouped Asset boxes can be marked. Once the Scheduled PM box is marked and saved, the action cannot be undone.

  • A Template is a set of preconfigured work order data that can simplify the process of completing a new Work Order.
  • A Scheduled PM is a set of preconfigured work order data that is configured to automatically create a new Work Order on a regular schedule.

Note: Marking the Scheduled PM enables the Scheduling WO tab.

Note: PMs do not appear in the list of available templates when using the Create Work Order Tool.

Grouped PM

Converts the Scheduled PM to a Grouped PM—a single PM in which the user may designate a different schedule for each asset on the PM. Each Work Order generated by this PM relates to an individual asset. The Scheduled PM field must be marked before the Grouped PM can be marked.

Note: The Grouped PM function disables the Assets and Scheduling WO tabs and enables the Grouped PM tab.

Tightly Linked PM

Converts the PM to a Tightly Linked PM. Tightly Linked PMs do not have a schedule. Instead, they are linked to a Scheduled PM and directed to replace the regularly scheduled PM at a certain interval. For example, the Scheduled PM might generate a work order every month; however, every third month it is replaced with the Tightly Linked PM.

Note: The Tightly Linked PM function enables the Affected or Tightly Linked PMs grid on the Scheduling WOs and Grouped PMs tabs.

Grouped Assets

Converts a Grouped PM to a Grouped Assets PM. A Grouped Assets PM is a single PM in which the user may create multiple groups of assets and designate a different schedule for each group of assets. The Scheduled PM and Grouped PM fields must be marked before the Grouped Assets box one can be marked.

Note: The Grouped Assets function enables users to associate Assets by right-clicking in the Grouped Assets grid on the Grouped PMs tab.

Inactive

Indicates a template that is not in use. Inactive templates do not appear in the list of templates available in the Create Work Order tool.

Note: To disable a PM (i.e., to stop work orders from being generated), enter Edit Mode, then clear out the Interval and Date fields.
