The Location tab fields store location information such as map page numbers, X and Y coordinates, elevations, and GPS information. You are not required to record GPS coordinate data in these fields, particularly if you use a geodatabase to maintain this information. These fields are only provided for your convenience.
This tab also features the following two grids at the bottom of the record:
The Field Ties grid allows you to document where an asset is located in the field (e.g. 2 feet from south side of house). This is especially useful for underground assets.
The Associations grid at the bottom of the record allows you to associate related assets with this record. For instance, you might link a water meter record with a service tap inventory record. You can then view that associated record from the grid.
