This example is designed to show you how items of equipment can have a parent/dependent relationship. We'll focus on a Pump Station, Pump, and Motor. These three items are set up in a hierarchy; Pump Station is the parent, and Pump and Motor are dependents attached to the Pump Station. At the same time, the Pump is also a parent to the Motor.
The Parent's operating status affects the status of the dependent. Thus, if a parent's status is out of service, all dependents' statuses will also be out of service.

In this example, if the Pump Station goes out of service, both the Pump and Motor's statuses will also be changed to "Out of Service".
