Global Edit

The Global Edit function allows users to change a single field, but that change can be applied to every record in the module. This is a tool that allows for a quick update to alot of records, but is dangerous because it can change so many records at once.

The global edit option is only available in certain fields. To see if a field has this option, Right-click + Ctrl in that field. Global Edit will appear at the bottom of the drop-down list (pictured in the instructions below).

Note: Most users may not have access to this feature. See the system administrator for details.

How To Use Global Edit

  1. Place the cursor in the field while in View Mode.
  2. Press Ctrl+ Right-click. The following window will appear:

    Global Edit

  3. Select Global Edit. The following window will appear:

    Global Edit Dialog

  4. Enter the New Value in the dialog box, OR mark the Null box to leave the field empty.
  5. Mark whether the change should be applied to All Records or only the records in the Current Filter.

Note: Global edits cannot be done on loaded subsets.

  6. Click to save the change. Now the new value entered will populate that field throughout the record set.

Note: If a global edit is preformed on a field that is used in a auto-calculation, the Recalc All tool must be used to update the calculations. A tutorial movie is available for the Global Edit function.
