This set of fields allows users to setup parameters which will take the street segments, and automatically generate supersegments based on the Segment Networks Street Number and Block Number. To set this up start in the Transportation > Street Segment Network module. On the Attributes Tab fill out the Street Number and Block Number for each segment. After that fill out the following fields in the Pavement Parameters module and run the Toolkit function. When the tool is run it will sort all of the street records by Street Number and then Block Number and then create supersegments based on the conditions listed in the following fields.
Field Name |
Function |
Max Length of Super |
This is a cap on how long the auto-generated supersegments can be. If a supersegment meets this cap, a new supersegment will be generated even if the Street Number hasn't changed. |
Start for Super ID |
The first number to use for the Supersegment ID when generating supersegments |
Super ID Interval |
This controls the interval for the Supersegment IDs. For example if this is 5 and the first supersegment was 1000. The following supersegment IDs will be 1005, 1010, 1015, 1020, etc.... |
PCI Tolerance |
This controls the supersegment creation based on PCI. The tolerance is a range of acceptable PCI values. As the supersegment is created the average supersegment PCI is calculated. The PCI tolerance range is calculated using the following formula. Supersegment Average PCI + PCI Tolerance AND Supersegment Average PCI - PCI Tolerance. Each new subsegment's PCI is compared against the supersegment's average PCI. If the subsegment PCI falls outside that range the supersegment is completed and a new supersegment is created. This helps with a subsegment that is either in really good condition, or really bad condition from being added to a supersegment of subsegments that are in average condition. This helps to keep roads that are going to require the same maintenance grouped together. For example: If the average PCI of the supersegment that is being created is 75 and the PCI Tolerance is 10 a subsegment with a PCI 70 will be included in the supersegment, while a subsegment with a PCI of 60 will cause a new supersegment to be generated. |
Max Length Skipped |
This is a exception to the above rule. Enter a length in this field. If the length of the subsegment is less than or equal to this number it will be added to the supersegment even if it doesn't meet the above parameters. |
